Chances are, we don't know each other. Hopefully this small site will serve as an introduction of sorts. I've put up a few samples of my work and a bit about myself. Not that I'm that interesting or anything. Tom Waits, now there's an interesting fellow. My friend Sue is very interesting. If you like I'll introduce you. To Sue, not Tom. I don't know Tom.

The difference between work and play? Hopefully not too much.


The Office of Sustainability at McMaster University was set up to garner support for an ongoing series of programs at the university and needed a brand that is readily identifiable. The Monarch Butterfly was chosen as a symbol because it is indigenous to the area and its relation to nature.

Highlights
The Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse was looking for an award to be given away at the residence of the Governor General of Canada once a year. This 25 cm tall bronze statue portrays three figures, each helping another.

Hi. My name's Rand MacIvor. Actually, it's Randolph
Stewart MacIvor but I won't be a Randolph until I'm 95.
I've been involved in the creative game for over 30 years. You'd think I'd have gotten tired of it by now. Or it of me. But we keep chugging along together. Along the way I've worked with some wonderful clients, seen my share of awards, worked with some great agencies and taught graphic design at the college level.
My own work includes copywriting, design, and illustration. Weird, but this helps me understand what combination of elements and styles may work best for a concept; even if the work is being done by other pros. I’ve formed and worked with both large and small cross-discipline teams to provide solutions designed to make a brand sing. How? By seeking a balance of play, skill and passion (see neat graphic to the right), consistent across all media.
In today's world, presenting the benefits of an endeavor and the distinctive nature of a brand means revealing the passion behind why it exists. In a language that people relate to. Without worn out catch phrases. Like "out of the box". I hate that one.
